In some cases there is the added bonus of viewing orcas, whales, penguins, seals and possibly albatrosses in the same location.

Many species of Dolphins are found in New Zealand waters. One species found mainly in the South Island is the Hector Dolphin which is one of the worlds rarest and smallest Dolphins and is found only in New Zealand waters.

Other common species are the Bottle-nosed, which is one of the larger species, and the Dusky Dolphin which is quite small and very playful.
