Today New Zealand offers a huge range of Bungy Jumping options from one end of the country to the other.
From bridges or platforms from 35 to 134 metres high or for those looking for the ultimate bungy experience, there is also heli-bungy from a helicopter!
If the jump is over water, you can usually choose whether or not you want to make a 'water touch'.
Bungy operator crews secure a strong latex rubber cord either to a full body harness or around the jumpers' ankles.
The jumper then hobbles to the edge of the platform, takes a deep breath and swan dives off into space.
The jumper experiences a feeling of free-fall until the cord is extended and then usually bounces up and down a few times until retrieved - often by a boat.
